Hockey is truly an amazing game. You can spend all your time thinking about how to put the puck in the net, how to score on the power play, how to win in a shootout and just getting two points.
Then it all just comes together, at least for one game.
Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens, the Bruins came that close to being shutout for the third consecutive game before getting the tying goal from Patrice Bergeron in the last minute with the goalie pulled. The Bruins put 42 on net..but c’mon, most of them were not very threatening and Carey Price had a relatively easy game in that aspect. Once tied, did you really think that they had a chance in the shootout? They can’t score goals. And once again they come away with a loss…with a point, but a loss.
Then Saturday against the division leading Buffalo Sabres they come out of nowhere with a big win and scoring four goals. Two on the power play. YES, two on the PP. we all know, if you can’t score with man advantage, you might as well take your puck and go home. Granted, Ryan Miller was not in the net for Buffalo, some guy named Jhonas Enroth too the beating but hey, you take goals and wins where and when you can get them.
The Bruins will see the Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins two of the next three games with the lowly Florida Panthers in between. Boston for the most part has been playing well and the defense and goaltending has been pretty darn good and that must keep up until their scoring touch and/or wounded players return to the lineup. There is little room for error these days and as the coach said, when you aren’t scoring, you have to believing and continue doing all the things that keep you focused on the task at hand each game.
