Happy New Year

And if it keeps going for the Boston Bruins like it has been, it will be a very good year. After win streaks of four, five, and four again, the B’s have won seven in a row including the first three of this five game road trip. The Bruins have been hitting all the right buttons. Coach Julien has been rolling four lines over the boards and all have been productive in their own way. Contributing in every way has been the entire team. Blake Wheeler is a legitimate Calder Trophy candidate with 13 goals. The Captain, ZZZZZZZZZZ has been rock solid on defense. Last year was not one of Chara’s best and I was on him constantly, this year he has provided the kind of defense everyone wanted when he arrived three off seasons ago. Krecji and Kessel have been outstanding in scoring and coming back to help out. Something that Julien preaches all the time. If you don’t come back, you have no ice time to score. Michael Ryder after a slow scoring start, has 10 goals in his last 13 games. Milan Lucic continuing to grow while scoring and taking up room in the slot area to create those scoring chances. And just who is the number one goaltender? Who cares! Tim Thomas has 15 wins with a 2.04 GAA and 93% save percentage. Manny Fernandez has 11 wins with 2.09 GAA save percentage of 92. What the heck could be better in Bruin Land. Well, the could sustain less injured players. Right now Boston is playing without the services of Aaron Ward, Marco Sturm, Patrice Bergeron and Andrew Ference. All of them integral parts of the team and yet through 35 games, our Boston Bruins have 24 wins. They are in first place in the Northeast Division, 12 points ahead of second place Montreal. They are first in the Eastern Conference, nine points ahead of second place Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. They have down this without the big hiccups that come during a long season. A loss here and there is natural which is about all the B’s have been doing. It’s the fascinating win streaks that have taken me by surprise as they are find ways to win and finding everyone on the score sheet. They return home on Thursday to complete a home and home with the Penguins as they look to conitinue their winning ways and by May, hoping to truly make it a Happy New Year. Go B’s
