Bruins Win Game 2 – Lead Two Games to Love

So, it’s Dejavu all over again as the Bruins head up to Montreal with a two games to one lead over the Canadiens. This after a totally dominant 5-1 blistering of Carey Price  and the Habs in game 2. This one was never in doubt as the B’s came to play with their “A” game.  There was no lull in the second period this time. As a matter of fact, it crush kill destroy the Canadiens in the second period. Oh Montreal made it interesting at the :46 second mark of the period when Alexei Kovalev once again put a puck where no one else in the world could have put it to make it 2-1. But shortly thereafter, the Bruins got a goal from an, oh so unlikely sort. Shane Hnidy put a wrister over Price’s right shoulder from the slot at the hash marks and it was pretty much lights out for the Montreal in game 2. Hnidy was in the lineup because Matt Hunwick underwent an emergency splenechtomy before the game. He is of course out for the season. The Habs and their fans, were done after Michael Ryder snapped a 10-foot wrister past Price’s glove with 2.3 seconds left in the period. This Bruins team is a bit different so many others that we have been disappointed by. The B’s are the ones with the speed and determination to get to every loose puck and pay the price to clear the puck, pass the puck and score goals. They have more than one scoring line and everyone is on the same page. Conversely, it’s Montreal who lacks the talent is trying to literally beat the Bruins physically and right now, now of their tactics are working. And I couldn’t be happier. As I always say, anytime the Canadiens lose a hockey game, to any team, is a great day in the world. But, lets keep this all in perspective. Montreal is not done yet. They are heading back to that Cathedral called the Bell Centre and your lovable Diehard is making the trek also, and just that building and those fans have the makeup to get Montreal at least playing better and we all know anything can happen in Montreal and probably will. So, I think we all see that the Bruins have the better forwards, better defense, Tim Thomas and overall, the better team. But we saw the tales of the second periods in games 1 & 2. The Bruins stopped skating in game 1 and let Montreal tie the game before taking it on Chara’s power play goal. Game 2 second period was entirely different as the Bruins posted 4 goals and were never headed. The Bruins need to continue to do what they have done in the first two games and not get too involved with the nastiness that the Canadiens seem to want to get into. Play Boston Bruins hockey while in enemy territory and everything will work out.-Diehard…on the way to Montreal!
